This two-part advanced presentation will cover federal statutes and regulations.

Learn how to locate federal statutes and regulations, in print and online, and how to use the Annotated Codes.

Parking validation available for the County of Sacramento two-story parking structure; entrance on G Street and 7th Street. Bring your parking receipt and we will validate for time spent in this class.

 

 

Course Description:

This is the first presentation in a two-part advanced course that covers federal statutes, regulations, cases, secondary sources, and two of the most important finding aids.

Unlike state governments, which can pass almost any law pursuant to the state government's power to promote the public health, morals, safety, and the general well-being of its citizens, Congress can only legislate in the areas granted to it by the Constitution. Yet, under the Supremacy Clause, any state law conflicting with federal law is invalid. If you need to research federal law, this is the class for you.
