Class Description:

SECOND OFFERING OF THIS PRESENTATION:

Like a good dentist, legal practitioners must make our work as quick and painless as possible: legal writing must be short, clear and organized. This presentation is about achieving that.

We will cover how to fix word-wasting habits that needlessly lengthen your writing. We will cover sentence and paragraph construction techniques that improve readability. And we will discuss how to organize information so the reader can most readily absorb it.

These techniques will make your legal writing more persuasive and painless for the reader. They can also make the writing process more enjoyable. Delivering succinct and clear legal writing is challenging, but it can also be both creative and satisfying.

Parking validation available for the County of Sacramento two-story parking structure; entrance on G Street and 7th Street. Bring your parking receipt and we will validate for time spent in this class.

Course Description:

In the legal profession, no one wants to read what we write. What we write may be important, but it is not popular fiction; motions are not read for pleasure.

This presentation will cover how to fix word-wasting habits that needlessly lengthen your writing and how to develop sentence and paragraph construction techniques that improve readability in legal documents.
