Don't Panic! Become an expert at navigating the Sacramento County Superior Court's new Public Case Access System so you can use it as effectively and inexpensively as possible before access fees begin July 1, 2014! In this hands-on, exercise-filled class, you will learn how to perform name, case number, and filing date searches; how to set up and manage your own account; how to order a document; and how to "subscribe" to a case so that you can receive email notifications whenever a new document is filed, and can view and print that document for FREE for 72 hours. The class is limited to 12 participants, so register right away!

Bring your lunch for this one-hour lunchtime learning event!

Event: Legal Research: Part A- California Statutes

Part A, will cover Statutes.

You will learn how to recognize and locate California laws, in print and on-line, and how to use the Annotated Codes. This class will also cover secondary sources, which provide interpretation and context, and are often used as "side doors" into the official statutes.

This class covers how California case law is developed and organized. You will learn how to locate cases in printed resources and on-line. Secondary sources will be included in the demonstration of methods researchers use to find relevant judicial opinions.
