The following workshops are currently available at the Civil Self-Help Center. No appointments or reservations are made for the workshops in advance of the day of the workshop.
***Children under the age of 12 are not allowed in the workshops.***
Answer-Contract Workshop
Monday-Friday. If you have been sued by a creditor or collection agency, we can help you prepare your response and serve it on the opposing party. If you are eligible for a filing fee waiver, we can help you fill out that paperwork as well. To attend this workshop you must arrive at the law library by 8:25 a.m. Appointment slots for the 9:00 a.m. workshop are filled at 8:30. Please don't be late! The workshop may last up to 3 hours, so plan your time and parking accordingly.*
Case Management Statement Workshop
Effective October 4, the Case Management Statement Workshop will be held at 1:30pm.
2 pm, 2nd & 4th Thursday. If it is nearing 180 days after you filed your Complaint or Answer, or, if you received a notice of a Case Management Conference from the Court, you need to file a Case Management Statement. Come to this workshop and we will assist you in understanding this process and filling out and serving this form. Arrive by 1:50 p.m. Plan to stay for up to 3 hours.*
Discovery Workshop
Effective October 4, the Discovery Workshop will be held at 1:30pm.
2 pm, 1st & 3rd Thursday. During your lawsuit you may receive or decide to serve discovery documents that seek information or documents relevant to the lawsuit. We can help you with discovery. Bring a USB flash drive (available for sale at the Law Library) to this workshop if you want sample forms for your computer. You will need to do some of the work on your own and we will look over your work and help you serve it. Arrive by 1:50 p.m. Plan to stay for up to 3 hours.*
Name Change Workshop
Effective September 13, the Name Change Workshop will be held Mondays at 1:30pm.
2 pm, Wednesday. If you want to change your name, we can help you complete the legal forms and tell you what steps you will need to take after you file. Arrive by 1:50 p.m. Please plan to stay for 2 hours.*
